Senior Backup Specialist (m/f/d)

For our enterprise backup landscape and our customers’ backup environments, we are looking for an experienced Enterprise Backup Specialist with proven expertise in supporting and continuously developing complex backup infrastructures. This role makes a significant contribution to the stability and availability of backup services, supports restore and disaster recovery processes, and takes technical lead responsibility in complex problem situations. The focus is on high availability, reliability, and compliance with internal and external requirements. In addition, the role supports storage, tape library, and hardware-related topics, including on-site assignments when needed.

These exciting tasks await you:

• Operation and administration of enterprise backup environments in the Syntax Enterprise Cloud and at customer sites
• Design and implementation of technical concepts in close collaboration with architects
• Planning and execution of updates, upgrades, and technical changes
• Automation and optimization of processes in the backup environment
• Management of daily operations including alerts, incidents, service requests, problems, and changes
• Collaboration with vendors and partners in the areas of backup and storage
• Professional support and mentoring within the team
• Support for hardware-related activities in the data center and participation in on-call duty

Your profile:

• Several years of experience in the operation and administration of enterprise backup environments, ideally with Commvault
• Strong knowledge of backup environments and operational processes within complex managed services environments
• Experience with backup, storage, and ideally SAN infrastructures
• Good operating system knowledge of Windows, Linux, and AIX
• Knowledge of automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, and Ansible is an advantage
• Ideally, experience with storage systems such as NetApp, 3PAR, or Everpure, as well as tape libraries
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working, combined with strong technical understanding
• Team player with an interest in new technologies and fluent English skills, both written and spoken
