As Tax Advisor – German Tax (m/f/d) at Syntax Systems, you are the go-to contact for all tax-related matters within the German business. You take ownership of the ongoing processing, analysis, and continuous optimisation of tax processes and internal controls – backed by the strength of a global Tax Team.

You will be part of the Global Tax Team, reporting directly to the Head of Global Tax and working in close alignment with the Director Finance Europe. This role offers you true flexibility – whether you are looking for a part-time position (20 hours/week) or a full-time engagement (40 hours/week), we are open to both and will tailor the scope accordingly.

Ideal for experienced tax professionals, tax consultants, or tax specialists looking to make the move into the corporate world – or who are already right at home there.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Preparation and submission of EC Sales Lists 
  • Processing of VAT advance returns and annual VAT declarations
  • Execution of monthly and quarterly corporate income tax calculations and posting of deferred taxes
  • Contributing to the preparation of the Annual German Tax Note (tax disclosure for the annual financial statements)
  • Preparation of annual tax returns in close collaboration with external tax advisors
  • Coordination and collaboration with external tax advisors and tax authorities
  • Administration of flat-rate taxation (Pauschalversteuerung)
  • Review of purchase agreements with respect to double taxation treaties and withholding tax regulations
  • Supporting the Global Accounts Payable Team on tax-related questions regarding travel expenses and reimbursements
  • Assisting with withholding tax requirements and cross-border transactions
  • Supporting tax audits and handling inquiries from tax authorities
  • Supporting global Tax Compliance activities as required
  • Tax research and documentation of conclusions
  • Supporting the implementation and improvement of tax processes

 

Your Profile

What you bring

  • Strong, hands-on expertise in German tax law – particularly in the areas listed above
  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented working style
  • Professional communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience coordinating with external tax advisors and tax authorities

Nice to have

  • SAP experience (ECC / S/4HANA) and/or familiarity with ERP-based tax processes

Languages

  • German: Fluent (mandatory)
  • English: Good to very good level
