What is a Data Migration Technical Lead?
A Data Migration Technical Lead plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the seamless transition of data from one system to another. They are responsible for planning, designing, and executing data migration projects, ensuring that data is transformed and transferred accurately and securely. This role involves leading a team of developers and collaborating closely with functional teams and clients to understand requirements, develop SQL procedures for data transformation, validate data integrity, and utilize tools like the SAP S/4 HANA Migration Cockpit for efficient data transfer. The Data Migration Technical Lead also resolves issues during migration and provides technical guidance to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
Your tasks:
- Lead and guide data migration projects, ensuring smooth project progression and effective communication between developers, the functional team, and the client.
- Plan and design data migration projects, including defining scope, methodology, timelines, and resources needed.
- Supervise the development of SQL stored procedures and simulations in the Migration Cockpit, providing assistance to developers as needed, ensuring best practices and methodologies are followed.
- Collaborate with the client and functional team to address and adjust any issues or discrepancies.
- Conduct post-migration validation and reconciliation activities to ensure data completeness and accuracy in the SAP S/4 HANA environment.
- Ensure all data migration activities are thoroughly documented and aligned with project requirements and timelines.
- Conduct regular status meetings with project stakeholders to report on progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Identify potential project blockers and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
- Train and mentor junior team members on data migration processes and tools.
You have:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in STEM, Business, or a related field (Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is a plus)
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
- At least 2 years of experience in data migration projects
- Deep understanding of SAP architecture, data structures and data models
- Hands-on experience with SAP Migration Cockpit
- Optional: Experience with Data Services and Datasphere
- Strong team collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with others
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Optional: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in French (*This role may be dealing with customers, partners and/or our international subsidiaries requiring communication in French on a recurring basis both verbally and in writing)
