We are looking for a seasoned SAP Functional Lead Consultant – MM with proven experience in the mining industry to lead the implementation, optimization, and support of SAP MM (Materials Management) processes. The ideal candidate will have strong domain knowledge of mining operations, including procurement, inventory, and materials handling, and will serve as a key bridge between business operations and IT.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead SAP MM functional design and implementation in alignment with mining industry best practices.

  • Act as the primary functional point of contact for all MM-related activities, including Procure-to-Pay (P2P), inventory management, materials valuation, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) materials planning.

  • Collaborate with supply chain, maintenance, and operations teams to understand and translate business requirements into SAP solutions.

  • Customize and configure SAP MM to meet complex materials and procurement needs specific to mining operations (e.g., remote site logistics, asset-intensive procurement).

  • Oversee integration with SAP modules such as PM (Plant Maintenance), WM/EWM, FI, and SD.

  • Conduct fit-gap analysis, write functional specs, and work closely with ABAP developers.

  • Support data migration and cleansing activities related to materials master, vendor master, and purchasing data.

  • Provide leadership during UAT, training, and post-go-live support.

  • Recommend continuous improvement opportunities and system optimizations for field operations and centralized procurement.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, safety, and sustainability standards.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, IT, or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on SAP MM experience, including 2+ full lifecycle implementations.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP MM in a mining or heavy industry environment.

  • Experience with indirect/direct procurement, consignment stock, subcontracting, and MRO-specific inventory processes.

  • Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is a strong plus.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Fluent in English; Spanish or Portuguese is an asset for LATAM operations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP S/4HANA certification in MM.

  • Experience working with mining ERP landscapes and operational technology (OT) integration.

  • Familiarity with SAP Ariba or third-party procurement platforms used in mining.

  • Understanding of ESG and sustainability reporting impact on supply chain operations.
