We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Functional Lead Consultant – FICO with strong expertise in the mining industry to lead financial and controlling streams across SAP transformation projects. This role is key to ensuring financial transparency, cost control, and regulatory compliance in complex, asset-intensive environments. The ideal candidate will act as the bridge between business finance teams and SAP technical delivery, driving alignment between operational goals and system capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, configuration, and implementation of SAP FICO modules (GL, AP, AR, AA, CO, COPA, Cost Centers, Internal Orders, etc.) tailored to mining industry needs.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Finance, Procurement, Operations, and Maintenance to align SAP functionality with business requirements.

  • Integrate SAP FICO with other modules including MM, PM, PS, and Asset Management, with a strong focus on capital-intensive project environments.

  • Drive the design and implementation of solutions for capital project accounting, cost tracking for mining operations, and fixed asset lifecycle management.

  • Support financial consolidation, joint venture accounting, intercompany processes, and regulatory reporting (IFRS/local GAAP).

  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Guide and support data migration (GL balances, open items, assets), testing, training, and cutover.

  • Provide post-go-live support and continuous improvement recommendations.

  • Ensure documentation, risk controls, and internal audit compliance within all FICO processes.

  • Stay updated on SAP S/4HANA innovations in finance and actively propose improvements.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 7+ years of SAP FICO experience, including at least 2 full-cycle implementations.

  • Hands-on experience in mining, natural resources, or asset-intensive industries.

  • Strong knowledge of project and asset accounting, cost allocations, and budgeting.

  • Familiarity with IFRS and/or local statutory accounting standards.

  • Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.

  • Proficient in English; additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP S/4HANA certification in Finance.

  • Experience in mining-specific use cases such as:

    • Capital project tracking for exploration/development phases

    • Environmental provisions and rehabilitation cost tracking

    • Royalty and tax reporting in resource-based jurisdictions

  • Familiarity with SAP Group Reporting, Central Finance, or SAP Analytics Cloud.
