The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for securing the organization's network infrastructure by developing and implementing security measures, troubleshooting security incidents, and maintaining the overall security architecture. The role involves working with firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security technologies to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement security solutions: Develop, configure, and implement network security measures such as firewalls, VPNs, and encryption protocols to safeguard the organization's network.
  • Monitor network traffic: Use security monitoring tools to track and analyze network traffic for signs of suspicious activities, threats, or breaches.
  • Vulnerability assessments: Conduct regular assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans to identify security weaknesses and recommend fixes.
  • Incident response: Investigate, respond to, and resolve security incidents. Develop protocols for managing security breaches or other security-related emergencies.
  • Firewall management: Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security appliances to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Network access control: Manage network access, ensure proper authentication mechanisms, and enforce security policies to control who can access various network resources.
  • Security audits and compliance: Perform security audits to ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Collaboration: Work with other IT teams (system administrators, network engineers, etc.) to integrate security measures into network designs and system configurations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, security policies, and incident reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in network security, including firewall management, VPN configuration, and intrusion detection/prevention.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet).
    • Experience with security monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, Snort, Splunk).
    • Knowledge of VPN technologies (SSL/TLS, IPSec).
    • Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.).
    • Experience with encryption technologies and authentication mechanisms.
    • Knowledge of cloud security (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with security frameworks and best practices (NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust security models.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automating tasks.
