Jr Network Engineer
Job Summary
The Jr Network Engineer supports the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of network infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient connectivity across the organization. This role works closely with senior network engineers, infrastructure teams, and service providers to support daily operations, troubleshoot network issues, and contribute to network improvement initiatives. The position also supports the adoption of modern automation and AI-enabled tools to improve visibility, accelerate issue resolution, and strengthen operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and network security infrastructure.
- Assist in troubleshooting network incidents, connectivity issues, and performance problems.
- Monitor network availability, alerts, logs, and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Support implementation, testing, and documentation of network changes and enhancements.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to support projects, upgrades, and infrastructure initiatives.
- Assist with network device administration, including routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and related tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and incidents.
- Follow established change management, security, and operational support processes.
- Participate in root cause analysis and support corrective actions for recurring network issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including automation, monitoring enhancements, and AI-enabled operational support where applicable.
- Support the use of AI-assisted tools for log analysis, knowledge retrieval, documentation, and issue triage when appropriate and approved.
- Ensure adherence to company standards, policies, and cybersecurity best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in network support, network administration, or infrastructure operations.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and subnetting.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Exposure to firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and network security concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and support evolving network environments.
- Interest in using automation and AI-enabled tools to improve operational efficiency, diagnostics, and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments or IT infrastructure teams.
- Exposure to Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Meraki, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, or similar.
- Knowledge of ITIL, incident management, or change management processes.
- Experience with network documentation tools, monitoring platforms, or ticketing systems.
- Understanding of cloud networking concepts or hybrid environments.
- Exposure to AI-enabled tools for network monitoring, alert analysis, or automated documentation.
- An appreciation for innovation, continuous improvement, and modern delivery approaches, including automation and AI-enabled services.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field preferred.
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification is highly desirable.
- Additional certifications in network security, wireless, or infrastructure technologies are a plus.
- Training in automation, scripting, or AI-enabled operational tools is an advantage.
