Position Summary: SAP BW Consultant

The position is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of the SAP BW (Business Warehouse) system running on SAP HANA. This role involves managing the integration of SAP BW with SAP HANA to deliver high-performance data processing, reporting, and analytics solutions, leveraging the power of in-memory technology to support real-time business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Implementation and Configuration:

Work with clients to gather business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications for SAP BW on HANA.

Implement and configure SAP BW on HANA solutions, utilizing the in-memory computing power of SAP HANA for enhanced performance.

Configure key SAP BW components such as InfoObjects, InfoCubes, DataStore Objects (DSOs), CompositeProviders, and Advanced DataStore Objects (ADSO) on SAP HANA.

Leverage SAP HANA native capabilities such as Data Services, HANA Views, and SQL-based transformations to improve performance.

Data Modeling and Optimization:

Design and implement advanced data models and structures (e.g., ADOS, HANA-optimized InfoCubes) tailored for SAP BW on HANA.

Use HANA-specific features to optimize the data models, ensuring that they leverage the power of in-memory computing for faster data processing and reporting.

Perform HANA-optimized data modeling, including the use of HANA views (Attribute Views, Calculation Views, and Analytical Views).

Data Integration (ETL):

Design and implement extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to integrate data from SAP and non-SAP systems into SAP BW on HANA.

Optimize ETL processes to take advantage of the high-performance capabilities of HANA, including real-time data loading and batch processing.

Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and availability across systems.

Reporting and Analytics:

Develop and optimize BEx queries and SAP HANA-based analytical reports to meet business requirements.

Work with BI tools such as SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Analysis for Office, or Tableau to create reports and dashboards based on the SAP BW on HANA data.

Design and deliver high-performance, real-time reporting solutions using HANA's in-memory capabilities.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

Monitor and optimize SAP BW on HANA performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions for better data loading, reporting speed, and system efficiency.

Work with database administrators to tune HANA instances, including compression techniques and query optimization.

Conduct regular system performance reviews and implement strategies for data reduction and system scalability.

System Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide ongoing support for the SAP BW on HANA system, addressing any technical issues or performance concerns.

Perform root-cause analysis of system errors, data load failures, and performance issues.

Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies and integrity issues within the SAP BW on HANA environment.

Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer:

Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure that the SAP BW on HANA solution aligns with business objectives.

Provide training and documentation for end-users, and offer best practices for leveraging SAP BW on HANA for reporting and analytics.

Project Management and Documentation:

Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system architecture, configuration settings, and process flows.

Support user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring all business requirements are met before go-live.
