Consulting Manager 

 

Objective: The Consulting Manager is tasked with staff development, including recruitment, training, management, and retention of a high-performance consulting team. The team members work under a variety of Project Managers/Directors and serve a diverse clientele. The Consulting Manager plays a pivotal role in helping consultants navigate through the company and client requirements, ensuring their success and continual growth in their respective roles. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain a catalogue of necessary skills within the consulting team. 

  • Recruit, retain, and coach a team of consultants equipped with the skills required by Syntax. 

  • Manage and train consultants to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles. 

  • Collaborate with the Resourcing team to identify skill gaps in our resource pool and develop hiring strategies to fill these gaps. 

  • Provide career guidance and performance feedback to consultants. 

  • Ensure consultants are offered opportunities for skill enhancement and professional development. 

  • Understand and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, and guide employees to do the same. 

  • Collaborate with the Solutions team, project managers, resource managers, recruiting, HR, and sales teams.

Supervisory Responsibility: 

This role manages all employees within the consulting team and is responsible for performance management, recruitment, coaching, and collaborating with the resourcing team for project allocations. Proactive management is a key requirement in this position. 

 

Work Environment: 

This role operates in a professional office environment and may involve remote work. It routinely uses standard office equipment. 

Physical Demands: 

This role is largely sedentary. However, it may require occasional physical activities such as standing, walking, using hands for various tasks, climbing stairs, talking, or hearing. The employee may occasionally need to lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. 

 

Travel: 

This position may require occasional travel to Syntax Office. 

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • A university degree in business, management, operations, IT, Technology, or an equivalent MBA from an accredited university. 

  • A minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience in a similar capacity in management consulting or professional services.
