Job Description – Manager, Value Delivery & Innovation
(SAP AMS & Optimization Services)

Department: Client Delivery – AMS
Reports To: Global VP AMS Delivery
Location: North America (Hybrid / Remote)
Level: Manager/Senior Manager

Role Purpose

The Manager, Value Delivery & Innovation (VDI) is responsible for maximizing business value for AMS customers beyond day-to-day operations. The VDI ensures that SAP Application Management evolves from a reactive “run” service into a proactive, insight-driven, and outcome-focused partnership.

Working closely with Service Delivery Managers (SDMs), Regional Leads, and CoE / Product Teams, the VDI identifies, structures, and drives value initiatives such as optimization, automation, roadmap execution, and innovation—while ensuring clear value realization and measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Value & Advisory

  • Own the Account Value Plan for assigned AMS customers
  • Translate business objectives into SAP value initiatives (Run optimization, Grow enhancements, Innovate use cases)
  • Lead roadmap, value, and advisory conversations with customer IT and business stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, not a ticket escalation point
  • Ensure a minimum of 40% billability through the delivery management of approved value initiatives, including oversight of scope, timelines, stakeholder alignment, and measurable value realization for AMS customers.
  • Value Identification & Realization
  • Identify opportunities for:
    • Process optimization
    • Automation & AI enablement
    • Functional improvements
    • Cost reduction and efficiency gains
  • Structure initiatives with:
    • Clear scope & outcomes
    • Business value hypotheses
    • KPIs and success measures
  • Track and communicate realized value (financial & non-financial)

Transition Management (AMS ↔ Project)

  • Accountable for the transition plan for the transition from Project to AMS
  • Manage seamless transitions:
    • From AMS → project (Grow / Innovate)
    • From project → AMS (stabilization & run)
  • Ensure initiatives are correctly classified and commercially aligned
  • Partner with Sales and Delivery on value-based expansions

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work hand-in-hand with:
    • Account Managers (own customer relationship)
    • SDMs (Run excellence)
    • Regional Leads (consistency & profitability)
    • CoE / Product Owners (solution design & reuse)
  • Participate in governance meetings with a value-centric narrative
  • Contribute to standardized AMS 2.0 value playbooks

Tooling & Insights

  • Leverage data from:
  • Ticket analytics & automation metrics
  • AI-enabled insights
  • Turn operational data into actionable recommendations

 

Required Skills & Experience

Professional Experience

  • 7+ years in AMS OR SAP delivery, consulting

Plus:

  • Strong background in:
    • SAP S/4HANA (Public or Private Cloud)
    • End-to-end business processes (Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Retail, etc.)
  • Experience working in customer-facing advisory roles
