Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our growing finance team at Syntax. In this role, you will be responsible for managing core general ledger accounting activities, ensuring compliance with international accounting standards, and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting.
You will play a key role in executing and improving financial close processes, maintaining financial integrity, and supporting decision-making through high-quality financial data. The position is part of an international accounting team working closely with other senior accountants across multiple regions, contributing to consistent global accounting practices and collaboration within the finance organization.
The role requires a proactive mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic international environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and oversee core general ledger accounting activities and ensure accuracy of financial records
· Perform and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities
· Execute key close processes including payroll postings, account settlements, GR/IR account handling, and reconciliations
· Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses, identifying and resolving discrepancies
· Perform intercompany reconciliations and support intercompany transaction management
· Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable local accounting standards
· Maintain and improve asset accounting processes, including capitalization and depreciation activities
· Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules
· Monitor accounting processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and automation
· Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including FP&A, controlling, and regional finance teams
· Ensure proper documentation and adherence to internal controls and financial policies
Key Skills & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
· 10+ years of professional experience in accounting roles with strong exposure to General Ledger
· Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
· Experience managing financial close processes in an international environment
· Solid experience with asset accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
· Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP R/3 and S/4
· Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Ability to work independently, proactively manage tasks, and meet deadlines
· Good English language skills (written and spoken)
Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of local GAAP (SK GAAP, German HGB, Spanish PGC)
· German language skills are an advantage
· Experience working in multinational or global finance teams
· Strong process improvement mindset and experience supporting automation or optimization initiatives
