Project Manager/Lead

Overview

This is a combined leadership and delivery role that integrates two key responsibilities within the Project Management function at Syntax.
The individual will serve as both the Team Lead of the Project Management Team, providing leadership, coaching, and operational oversight, and as a Senior Project Manager, directly managing complex SAP projects to ensure excellence in delivery, governance, and customer satisfaction.

Team Lead of Project Management TeamYour Role

Lead and manage the team of Project Managers, setting clear goals, ensuring alignment with Syntax delivery methodology, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Oversee HR‑related responsibilities for the project management team, including staffing, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and career development.

Manage administrative and operational aspects such as workload distribution, capacity planning, vacation scheduling, and compliance with internal governance and quality standards.

Provide coaching and mentorship to Project Managers, promoting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team.

Ensure consistent use of delivery tools and standards (SAP Cloud ALM, Smartsheet, JIRA, and Syntax templates) across all projects.

Partner with executive leadership to define and refine project management frameworks, governance models, and reporting standards.

Support recruitment and onboarding of new Project Managers, ensuring team scalability and capability growth in line with business needs.

Contribute to strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, and pipeline management to optimize resource utilization and delivery performance.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Project Management Team to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and delivery outcomes.

Senior Project ManagerYour Role

Lead integrated project planning across all workstreams — functional, data, technical, and change — ensuring sequencing, dependencies, and milestones are tightly managed.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate key workshops and activities in collaboration with solution architects, functional leads, data leads, and technical teams.

Maintain end‑to‑end visibility on scope, timeline, resources, and quality, proactively identifying risks and driving resolution.

Monitor project costs, profitability, and payment milestones, ensuring accurate forecasting, timely invoicing, and financial compliance.

Utilize SAP Cloud ALM, Smartsheet, and AI‑enabled automation tools to streamline reporting, governance, and performance tracking.

Serve as a trusted advisor to customer counterparts, providing clear guidance, managing expectations, and confidently saying “no” when needed to protect project integrity and delivery success.

Support executive reporting, steering committee preparation, and alignment with Syntax’s internal governance standards.

Foster a collaborative, accountable delivery culture that balances quality, efficiency, and customer value.

Your Profile

10–12+ years of experience managing SAP implementation or rollout projects, including SAP S/4HANA, with proven ability to lead teams while managing large‑scale project delivery.

Demonstrated experience leading and developing project management teams, including HR, performance management, and administrative oversight.

Strong capability in integrated planning, task sequencing, financial control, and cross‑functional coordination across large transformation programs.

Deep understanding of SAP delivery methodologies (e.g., SAP Activate) and project governance.Proficiency with SAP Cloud ALM, Smartsheet, JIRA, and exposure to AI‑driven project automation.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills across executive, business, and technical audiences.

Skilled at building trust with senior customer stakeholders and capable of assertive, transparent communication in challenging situations.

Certifications such as PMP, SAP Activate Project Manager, or SAP Cloud ALM Implementation preferred.

Fluent in both German and English (spoken and written).
