Associate Software Engineer

Role summary

As an Associate Software Engineer you will join the team behind our GenAI suite for SAP. You will help implement and maintain features on SAP BTP, working on multi-tenant SaaS applications that combine generative AI with traditional enterprise workflows.

You will start by contributing to clearly scoped tasks, under the guidance of more senior engineers, while learning our stack (CAP UI5, Node.js/TypeScript, Python services for RAG).

Key responsibilities

• Implement well-defined backend features in existing services using CAP and Node.js/TypeScript.
• Contribute to multi-tenant scenarios (HDI containers, SaaS subscriptions, onboarding flows) following established patterns and hooks.
• Help maintain and evolve supporting services:

o Autoscaling and resource optimization for SaaS apps.

o Python-based services used for RAG and document processing.

• Fix bugs and support production issues under supervision, including:

o Route and DNS–related problems.

o Deployment and CI/CD pipeline issues.

o Integration issues between applications.

• Contribute to end-user and internal documentation (internal guides, KT notes).
• Write unit and integration tests; follow existing conventions and checklists.
• Collaborate closely with senior developers, DevOps and functional experts in daily work and sprint activities.

Required skills & experience

• 0–2 years of experience in software development (internships and projects included).
• Solid knowledge of at least one backend language (preferably TypeScript/JavaScript with Node.js, or Java) and RESTful APIs.
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.

 Interest in:

o Cloud-native development (SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry, CAP, multitenancy).

o Generative AI–driven applications (RAG, prompt-based workflows, AI orchestration).

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD concepts.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn from code reviews, pair programming and knowledge transfer sessions.
• Comfortable working in an agile, distributed team.
• Good written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Exposure to SAP technologies (SAP BTP, SAP HANA Cloud, SAPUI5/Fiori, ABAP basics).
• Experience with Python services or document processing / RAG scenarios.
• Experience contributing to documentation or developer handover notes.
