Title: Software Asset Management Consultant

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Act as a consultant within the Oracle Licensing Practice within the organization, working with cus-

tomers to create effective license positioning documents and associated software order forms.

Provide input and help automate customer-facing License Assessments for Oracle software, includ-

ing Database, Middleware, E-Business Suite, and JD Edwards programs, ensuring compliance with

licensing agreements.

Analyse and optimize Oracle licensing contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with

business needs; process transactions with Oracle as well as Syntax sales and finance personnel.

Manage the renewal process for Oracle licenses, ensuring timely and cost-effective renewals.

Assist technical teams by providing pre and post license assessments for cloud migration projects,

comparing cost-effective solutions in terms of licensing and support renewals.

Prepare and defend against Oracle license audits, conduct pre-audit checks to identify and mitigate

potential compliance issues.

Keep the knowledge base up to date with the latest Oracle licensing changes, ensuring the team is

informed of new policies, metrics, and compliance requirements.

Work closely with internal stakeholders, including IT, procurement, and legal teams, to ensure align-

ment and compliance with Oracle licensing requirements.

Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support licensing decisions and audit responses.

Continuously monitor and analyze relevant KPIs.

 

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oracle license management, with a focus on ELP creation,

contract optimization, and renewal management.

Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience in setting up and leading a prac-

tice or team.

In-depth understanding of Oracle Database, Middleware, E-Business Suite, and JD Edwards licens-

ing models and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the

ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Relevant certifications in software asset management or Oracle licensing (e.g., Certified Software

Asset Manager, Oracle Certified Expert) are preferred
