Job Title: SAP SD/MM Solution Architect – Conversion Programs
Role Overview
The SAP SD/MM Solution Architect will play a key role in SAP S/4HANA conversion and transformation programs, including Brownfield conversions, Selective/Purplefield transformations, CVI implementations, and system upgrade projects. The role requires a highly experienced functional architect who can understand complex business requirements, design scalable SAP solutions, and guide project teams to ensure successful delivery.
The architect will work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, technical teams, and functional consultants to ensure that solutions are aligned with SAP best practices and client objectives while maintaining delivery quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
- Act as the Solution Architect for SAP SD and MM modules in S/4HANA conversion, transformation, and upgrade programs.
- Analyze client business requirements and existing SAP landscapes to design effective and scalable solutions aligned with SAP best practices.
- Lead solution design discussions and ensure end‑to‑end integration across modules such as FI, CO, EWM, TM, PP, and other integrated processes.
- Provide architectural guidance on conversion strategies including Brownfield, Purplefield/Selective transformation, CVI implementation, and system upgrades.
Delivery Leadership
- Provide functional and architectural leadership to SD/MM consultants during project execution.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex functional queries, providing guidance and clarity to consultants during implementation.
- Support the team in resolving design challenges, configuration issues, and integration complexities.
- Ensure deliverables meet project quality standards, timelines, and client expectations.
Effort Estimation & Planning
- Assess requirements and forecast the time, effort, and resource needs required to deliver solutions effectively.
- Support project planning by contributing to effort estimations, solution proposals, and staffing requirements.
- Work closely with project management and delivery leadership to ensure optimal resource utilization.
Hands‑On Functional Support
- Step in as an SD/MM functional consultant when necessary to address resource gaps or support critical project activities.
- Contribute to configuration, testing, issue resolution, and functional validation when required to ensure project continuity.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Engage proactively with business stakeholders, project teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on requirements and solutions.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills in client discussions, workshops, and solution reviews.
- Build trusted client relationships by providing practical, well‑structured, and value‑driven solutions.
Leadership & Team Development
- Act as a mentor and guide for functional consultants, supporting their growth and helping them resolve challenges during project delivery.
- Demonstrate the qualities of an intermittent leader by proactively driving discussions, guiding decision making, and supporting the team when needed.
Process Improvement & Internal Initiatives
- Contribute to internal initiatives, accelerators, and proof‑of‑value (POV) solutions that improve delivery efficiency and service offerings.
- Work on process optimization initiatives aimed at enhancing internal delivery models and expanding service capabilities for clients.
- Support the development of best practices, reusable assets, and solution frameworks for the conversion practice.
Required Skills and Experience
- 12+ years of SAP experience with strong expertise in SAP SD and MM modules.
- Proven experience working as a Solution Architect or Senior Functional Lead in SAP projects.
- Strong experience in SAP S/4HANA conversion programs, including Brownfield, Purplefield/Selective Transformation, CVI implementations, and system upgrades.
- Deep understanding of Order‑to‑Cash (OTC) and Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) business processes.
- Experience working with cross‑module integrations including FI, CO, PP, EWM, TM, and other SAP modules.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions.
- Strong experience in solution design, effort estimation, and resource planning.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making capabilities.
