Position Overview:
The SAP S/4HANA Conversion SD (Sales and Distribution) Consultant specializes in the migration of legacy SAP ECC systems to S/4HANA, focusing on SD module processes. This role involves analyzing existing sales processes, adapting them to the S/4HANA environment, and ensuring smooth transitions during the system conversion. The consultant collaborates with business stakeholders and technical teams to optimize order-to-cash (O2C) processes and leverage S/4HANA innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Planning:

    • Analyze the existing ECC system, identify dependencies, and assess compatibility with S/4HANA SD functionalities.
    • Develop a detailed conversion strategy (brownfield, greenfield, or hybrid) tailored to the organization’s needs.
    • Prepare a roadmap for the SD conversion, including timelines, milestones, and risk mitigation plans.

  2. System Preparation and Simplification:

    • Conduct pre-conversion checks using tools like the SAP Readiness Check and Simplification Item Check.
    • Update and optimize SD configurations for compatibility with S/4HANA, addressing simplifications like pricing tables, credit management, and condition techniques.

  3. Data Migration:

    • Plan and execute the migration of master data (e.g., customer data, pricing conditions) and transactional data.
    • Use tools like the SAP Migration Cockpit and Conversion Cockpit to ensure accurate data migration.
    • Validate migrated data to ensure it meets business requirements.

  4. Configuration and Testing:

    • Configure S/4HANA SD functionalities, including sales order management, pricing, billing, shipping, and credit management.
    • Leverage new S/4HANA capabilities such as Advanced ATP (Available-to-Promise) and Fiori apps for SD processes.
    • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate the solution.

  5. Integration with Other Modules:

    • Ensure seamless integration of SD processes with other S/4HANA modules, including MM, FI/CO, and PP.
    • Configure and test interfaces with external systems, such as EDI partners or CRM platforms.

  6. Training and Documentation:

    • Develop training materials and provide hands-on training to end-users on S/4HANA SD functionalities and changes.
    • Document all configurations, workflows, and conversion processes for future reference.

  7. Post-Go-Live Support:

    • Provide go-live and hypercare support to ensure stability and resolve any issues.
    • Monitor system performance and suggest improvements based on user feedback and operational data.

  8. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

    • Stay updated on new S/4HANA SD features and recommend enhancements to improve sales processes.
    • Drive the adoption of S/4HANA innovations, such as embedded analytics, to improve business insights.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA SD module configuration, including sales order management, pricing, billing, and shipping processes.
    • Experience in S/4HANA migration tools, such as Migration Cockpit and Readiness Check.
    • Knowledge of S/4HANA SD innovations, including Advanced ATP, Settlement Management, and Fiori apps.

  • Project Experience:

    • Proven experience in S/4HANA conversions (brownfield) or implementations (greenfield).
    • Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and agile project management practices.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

    • Ability to analyze and adapt legacy processes for S/4HANA compatibility.
    • Troubleshooting skills to resolve issues during configuration, testing, and migration.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
    • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SAP S/4HANA certification in Sales and Distribution.
  • Experience with EDI, third-party system integration, and global trade compliance.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Variant Configuration and Settlement Management in S/4HANA.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools like SAP Analytics Cloud or Embedded Analytics.
