The Manager of OCI Operations will oversee and manage the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) operations team, ensuring that all OCI environments are running efficiently, securely, and with optimal performance. The role requires strong leadership, hands-on experience with OCI, and the ability to manage a team responsible for cloud architecture, deployment, monitoring, and support. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including security, development, and IT operations, to ensure cloud solutions align with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. OCI Operations Management:

    • Lead and manage day-to-day OCI operations, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of cloud environments.
    • Monitor cloud resources and services to ensure optimal uptime and performance, implementing best practices for reliability and disaster recovery.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to address incidents, outages, and performance issues promptly.
  2. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Manage and mentor a team of cloud engineers, system administrators, and other IT professionals responsible for OCI operations.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering professional growth and development.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  3. Cloud Infrastructure Optimization:

    • Drive optimization strategies to improve cost efficiency and performance in OCI environments.
    • Implement automation tools and frameworks to streamline provisioning, monitoring, and scaling of cloud resources.
    • Collaborate with the architecture and engineering teams to optimize cloud designs for scalability, security, and cost.
  4. Security and Compliance:

    • Ensure OCI environments adhere to security best practices and organizational policies.
    • Collaborate with the security team to implement cloud security controls, audits, and incident response protocols.
    • Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA) and internal governance frameworks.
  5. Cloud Monitoring and Incident Response:

    • Oversee the implementation of monitoring tools to track performance metrics, identify anomalies, and proactively address potential issues.
    • Lead incident management and root cause analysis for any cloud-related outages or performance degradations.
    • Establish and refine service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for cloud operations.
  6. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

    • Manage relationships with Oracle and other third-party vendors related to cloud services and tools.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for cloud operations-related issues, coordinating with business units and technical teams.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on OCI performance, costs, and ongoing projects.
  7. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

    • Stay current with emerging OCI technologies and cloud industry trends, recommending enhancements to existing infrastructure.
    • Evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to improve overall cloud operations.
    • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the cloud operations team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience managing cloud operations, with a strong focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and managing cloud-based environments.
  • Expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, and monitoring tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Oracle Management Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of security principles in cloud environments, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and network security.
  • Experience with disaster recovery, high availability, and backup strategies in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements and cloud governance (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud issues.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Certifications (e.g., Oracle Cloud Architect, Oracle Cloud Operations Associate).
  • ITIL or other service management certifications.
