Syntax is seeking an experienced SAP ABAP developer to design, develop, and implement custom solutions within S/4HANA environments. This role focuses on modern ABAP development on HANA, including RAP-based applications, CDS views, AMDP, OData services, and clean-core extensibility practices. The ideal candidate will also bring at least intermediate SAP CPI experience and work closely with functional teams and architects to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performing technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement custom SAP solutions using ABAP on HANA and modern ABAP syntax (7.4 / 7.5).
- Develop applications aligned with SAP Clean Core and extensibility standards in S/4HANA environments.
- Build and maintain RAP-based applications using CDS views, AMDP, and OData services.
- Develop and support complex object-oriented ABAP programs and frameworks.
- Use Eclipse IDE (ADT) and SAP Business Application Studio (BAS) for development and deployment activities.
- Apply intermediate SAP CPI knowledge to support integration-related development and enhancements.
- Collaborate with functional teams and architects to define scalable and maintainable technical designs.
- Optimize HANA-optimized ABAP code and database access for performance and reliability.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, performance standards, and coding guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with ABAP, ABAP on HANA, and modern ABAP syntax (7.4 / 7.5).
- Solid experience with object-oriented ABAP development.
- Practical knowledge of RAP, CDS views, AMDP, and OData services.
- Familiarity with SAP Clean Core principles and extensibility concepts.
- Experience using Eclipse IDE (ADT) and SAP Business Application Studio (BAS).
- Intermediate-level SAP CPI knowledge or experience.
- Ability to analyze technical requirements and deliver scalable SAP solutions.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization for HANA-based development.
- Experience performing code reviews and supporting technical quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SAP Fiori and UI5 development.
- Familiarity with ABAPGit for version control and collaboration.
- Exposure to SAP BTP solutions and related development practices.
- Experience with BOPF in SAP application design and development.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- SAP certifications in ABAP, S/4HANA, SAP BTP, CPI, or related areas are a plus.
