SAP Digital Manufacturing Consultant
Job Summary
The SAP Digital Manufacturing Consultant at Syntax is responsible for providing functional support and process design within the SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM) landscape. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing manufacturing processes through effective analysis, configuration, and cross-functional collaboration. By serving as a trusted advisor to clients, you will help optimize their operations and ensure the seamless integration of SAP DM functionalities with other ERP modules, driving significant value in their digital transformation journey.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Functional Support & AMS Activities**
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve functional issues within SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM).
- Manage incidents and service requests, ensuring service quality and adherence to SLAs.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend functional improvements.
- Support end-users by clarifying processes, documenting solutions, and ensuring system stability.
**Process Design & Implementation**
- Lead functional workshops with business teams to understand manufacturing processes and requirements.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications for DM solutions.
- Configure and adapt SAP DM functionalities to support customer processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Support testing phases (SIT, UAT), validating functional scenarios and guiding users.
- Assist during go-live and hypercare, ensuring smooth adoption of new functionalities.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**
- Work closely with SAP PP, QM, PM, EWM, and other module teams to ensure consistent end-to-end process flows.
- Coordinate with technical/development teams by providing clear functional requirements and validating final deliveries.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and shop floor processes.
**Customer Engagement**
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing functional expertise on SAP DM capabilities.
- Document business processes, functional designs, user guides, and training materials.
- Support change management through clear communication and training sessions.
**Required Qualifications**
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing processes, MES, or SAP functional consulting.
- Experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing or other MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell, Apriso, OSIsoft).
- Strong understanding of shop floor workflows, including production execution, sequencing, work instructions, traceability, quality processes, and KPIs.
- Proven ability to conduct workshops, gather requirements, and translate business needs into solution designs.
- Familiarity with integration touchpoints between SAP DM and ERP modules (PP, QM, PM, EWM).
- Experience in preparing documentation for functional specifications, test scripts, and training.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Exposure to Industry 4.0, IoT, or smart manufacturing concepts.
- Experience working in global or multi-site manufacturing environments.
- SAP or MES-related certifications are a plus.
**Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant SAP or MES certifications are advantageous.
